A. General information
The Grandstream ATA (Analogue Telephone Adapter) connects analogue terminals to IP-based data networks. It is ideally suited for the integration of analogue fax machines (T.38). Alternatively, analogue telephones or door openers can be integrated, which then establish a connection with the NFON telephone system.
Grandstream ATA converts voice traffic into data packets for transmission over your IP network. With international standards for voice and data networks, the Patton ATA ensures reliable operation.
The following Grandstream models are available:
» Grandstream SIP-ATA HT801 (up to 1 analog end device)
»Grandstream SIP-ATA HT802 (up to 2 analog end devices)
»Grandstream SIP-ATA HT814 (up to 4 analog end devices)
»Grandstream SIP-ATA HT818 (up to 8 analog end devices)
»Grandstream SIP Gateway GXW 4216 (up to 16 analogue terminals)
»Grandstream SIP Gateway GXW 4224 (up to 24 analogue terminals)
»Grandstream SIP Gateway GXW 4232 (up to 32 analogue terminals)
»Grandstream SIP Gateway GXW 4248 (up to 48 analogue terminals)
The following connection cables are available for the Grandstream models:
- The Grandstream HT80X and GXW 4216, 4224, 4232 models are connected with a conventional patch cable (RJ11).
- The Grandstream GXW 4248 model requires a conventional patch cable (RJ11) or a telco cable (Grandstream connection cable TELCO to open end for GXW4248)
The connection cables are not included in the standard scope of delivery of Grandstream end devices and must be ordered separately!
Many multifunction devices and modern faxes have settings for certain transmission standards that can interfere with sending faxes via Grandstream adapters. When you try to send a fax, the machine returns an error message, but this varies depending on the type of machine and manufacturer.
The following settings on the fax (if any) must be disabled:
- V.34 must be deactivated
- The transmission speed (maximum baud rate) must be 9,600 bps (called 9.6k in some faxes)
- Some faxes offer the setting "Operation on an extension". This must be disabled.
- Automatic dial tone detection must be deactivated
- Automatic external line seizure must be deactivated
- Portrange 4000-4999 must be enabled in the firewall
Check the manual of your fax to see if your machine supports all the above settings and how to configure them. If necessary, ask the manufacturer directly. Many manufacturers also have the required settings on their website in the FAQ or in the manual under Troubleshooting. Pay attention to a note on faxing via VoIP.
